“Bang Bang” Shrimp

Finding a good shrimp dish can be difficult. This “Bang Bang ” shrimp recipe is the perfect fix if you’re looking for something new. Try making it for dinner and let me know what you think in the comments section below!


  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flourProcessed with VSCO with f2 preset
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbl. hot sauce
  • 8 oz. Panko
  • 2 tsp. onion powder
  • 2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 2 tsp. dried basil
  • 2 tsp. dried oregano
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • 2 lb. medium shrimp, peeled, deveined
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 4 tbl. sweet chili sauce
  • 2 tbl. honey
  • 2 tsp. rice vinegar


1. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, honey and rice vinegar. Set aside.

2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. In a large bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, flour, cornstarch, egg, hot sauce, salt and pepper. Set aside.

3.In a large bowl, combine the Panko, onion powder, garlic powder, basil, oregano, salt and pepper. Set aside.

4. One at a time, dip shrimp into the buttermilk mixture, then dredge in the Panko mixture, pressing to coat.

5. Working in batches, add shrimp to the skillet and cook until evenly golden and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate. Serve immediately, drizzled with sweet chili sauce.
