On the Shelf: June 2017

This month’s reads were both by Michael Connelly. After reading one of his books I had to get another. Harry Bosch, the main character in the series, is an LAPD Detective tasked with solving murders. The series includes nearly 30 books and if you have the time, I recommend reading them in order.

1. City of Bones by Michael Connelly – This book revolves around Bosch’s struggle to find the murderer of a 12-year-old boy from the 1980’s. With only bones, the detectives don’t have much to evidence. It takes awhile to get to the reveal but in the end the murderer is someone you didn’t expect.

2. The Closers by Michael Connelly – When it comes down to it, I preferred this book over the other. It was a quicker read and a better storyline. Bosch comes back from a short retirement to work for the cold case division. They work on solving the murder of a 16-year-old biracial girl. With a DNA hit and no suspect, the case takes some creative thinking to solve.
